Local Board Fair Share Splits

Guidelines for issues mobilization funding:

Boards achieving their fair share goal amounts will automatically receive 10% of their board’s total RPAC/RPEC funds at the end of the RPAC fundraising year.

The fair share goals for each board will be equal to or greater than:

  • $20 per member average AND
  • 40% member participation

The issues mobilization funding shall be used for local political grassroots initiatives and issues mobilization. Issues mobilization funding should not be used to endorse or support political candidates.

The following are some examples of political initiatives:

Elections:

  • “I voted” stickers on Election Day
  • “Remember to vote” banner for Election Day
  • REALTORS® carpool for people to get to the polls and vote
  • Polling location fliers
  • Legislative district maps
  • Kids vote programs

Political issues:

  • Help fight local ordinances such as “no sign” ordinance, impact fees, property tax issues
  • Public awareness campaigns about REALTOR® issues (ads in newspapers or radio)

Funding can be used to help:

  • Purchase RPAC gifts or auction items
  • Sponsor golf outing

Guidelines for RPAC funding of local candidates:

Boards achieving their fair share goal for RPAC/RPEC fundraising will also be eligible to obtain an additional 10% of the total funds raised to be used for local candidate contributions. The 10% funding must be requested by the local board and must be given directly to a local candidates campaign committee.

A local board may request a portion of the 10% for numerous candidates or all of the 10% to support one candidate. The local candidate contribution requests will be forwarded to the IAR RPAC Trustees for approval.

How to request local candidate funding:

Send a letter requesting a contribution for a local candidate(s) to the IAR RPAC Trustees. The request must be sent with the local Board of Directors' approval on behalf of the board.

The letter should include the following information:

  • amount of the contribution
  • name of the local candidate
  • candidate’s committee name
  • candidate’s committee address
  • brief sentence on REALTOR® support of candidate
